CampusBookRentals Giveaway

I remember when I was an undergrad I shelled out so much money for textbooks, only to sell them back for pennies on what I had additionally bought them for. I wish I had known about rental textbook sites like CampusBookRentals--but hopefully this post will show my readers that can still benefit that there are cheaper alternatives!

Here's how it works:

Some perks are:
-save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-free shipping both ways
-can highlight in the textbooks
-extensive database of books--I recommend checking out Just my Type
-flexible renting periods
-they are donating a portion of every textbook rental to Operation Smile so that they can meet and exceed their goal of 1,000 cleft lip surgeries for children in need

GIVEAWAY!

Today, CampusBookRentals is graciously offering one of my readers a $50 credit to use towards renting textbooks!
Giveaway open to U.S. entries only.
NOTE: If you are viewing this through Google Reader you will not see the giveaway widget unless you go directly to my blog. thanks!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

*This is kind of a sponsored post. I requested that the monetary amount they were offering me to write a post be turned into a giveaway for you all. :)

Self Portrait Saturday: April 28th

I'm linking up to Self Portrait Saturday, but I'm at work so I didn't get too fancy.
[I answer the phone at school, so when it's not ringing I'm doing homework...or working on my blog. ;)]

The reality of a slow day at work...

...and the fantastical! Okay, maybe not, but I thought I'd spice things up with some flowers someone brought in for our open house.

In An Instant

1. My friend using a typewriter on one of her projects last quarter.
2. This is where Stinker loves to sleep. If I wake up because I can't breathe, it's because I have a cat on my chest/face.
3. Freshly dyed red hair.  I love red for the warmer seasons.
4. Speaking of warmer weather--brings pretty blooms!
5. Stinker looking dapper.
6. Ron Swanson watches over me when I work.
7. Some make-up I did for another student last quarter. I'll be posting the final images and video next week.
8. Coda--one of the puppies around school right now. She is so sweet. She fell asleep under my desk like this. awww

Book Fair!

I looooved when the Scholastic Book Fair would come to my school when I was younger. I would obsess over the catalog they gave to us prior so that I knew exactly what I wanted when the fair came.  I would always make sure I picked up a bookmark/pencil/eraser when I was in there too--it was just fantastic.

So when I saw Kate from Scathingly Brilliant had created an Etsy shop devoted to this wonderful memory, I was pretty excited!

In her new shop, called The Book Fair, you can buy a book fair  kit that includes:
- A fruit scented pop-a-point pencil
- A rainbow eraser
- Three bookmarks
- A handmade button with stickers
- A handmade reading list booklet
- A hand-stamped canvas carrying case
- A 1980's or 1990's paperback selected at random

I really want to get one for myself!
I love the illustration she made just for this--you can also get the illustration as a print, button, or bookplate. She even has some Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary books up there...I'm just sayin'. ;)

Mason Jar Competition

During the vintage event, Salvage, there was also a mason jar competition. You could do anything you wanted, as long as a mason jar was incorporated. I decided to do my own take on potpourri and how to display it. I found everything in or around my home--everything but the mason jar. I only had jars without lids, so I purchased that one new.  Once everything was painted I soaked all the bits and pieces in an apple cinnamon scent and punched holes in the top of the lid.

I unfortunately didn't come home with a ribbon [I wish I had made a sign so people knew to smell it], but I'm still really happy with it and it's proudly displayed in my room now. :D

Sponsor Call For May!

Sponsor spots are now back on my blog!  I've reworked my whole sponsorship system and you can now find all the information -------> HERE!

Just a heads up: I will no longer be writing sponsor spotlight posts. I feel like most people scroll right past them, and they are kind of a pain to make. I will be promoting my sponsors through other avenues though, I still love ya!

I also have a few other ways your can promote on my blog outside of buying ad space, so make sure you check it out. :D

Creeper Turned One!!

Last Saturday Creeper turned one!  He is so big--I'm pretty sure he is heavier than Stinker now.
As a birthday present, my mother bought him a catnip bird that is motion activated to chirp.  He loves it...I can't wait until the battery dies. ;D

You'll notice that he is now way too cool to let me take his picture.  pfffft

Earworm: Buzzcocks

Earworm: is a piece of music that sticks in one's mind so that one seems to hear it, even when it is not being played.

This is a new little feature I came up with. Basically it's just a place for me to post new music, old music, music I wake up with in my head. Hopefully you'll hear something you like and can even recommend new stuff you think I'd like.  Sharing the musical love ;)

This song has been stuck in my head for weeks.  It doesn't help that it seems to be following me around--I hear it play all over the place! Good think I like it though. ;)

Beach Weather

Notice: I took Disqus comments off my blog so any comments made through that are now gone. I only had that installed because before you couldn't reply to comments through Blogger, so now that you can, I have decided to go back.

This warm weather has been causing me to crave a beach trip, but right now I'll have to settle for some old photographs.
